What do I need to trap coyotes?

One of the hardest things about getting into a new hobby, sport, or practice is figuring out what tools you need to start. For many, especially myself, this is one of the most frustrating aspects of starting off. I want to move. I'd rather someone much, much smarter than myself to tell me what I need to kickstart the process.

That's a HUGE obstacle when it comes to trapping. I don't want to scare anyone...but you need a lot a lot of stuff. Luckily, nothing is overly expensive. But piecing together gear as a new trapper is tough. And like with many other practices, when you search online, you deal with a lot of conflicting opinions. More times than not, it feels like folks online are yelling at each other trying to convince everyone that what they use is the best and there is no other alternative - and if you use that other product, you're an idiot and you suck. So, what do you need to start trapping coyotes?

We want to save you the headache. We're not going to tell you that the items in our RPA Start-Up Kit are the best without argument. But we will tell you, everything in this bag has been chosen for a reason. Everything we give you has met our standard for durability, reliability, and consistency. This stuff is going to show up every time you need it and do exactly what it needs to.

Some of our tools cannot be found anywhere else. Some are custom built, while others have been altered to give you the best possible setup based on our team's experience.

  • Sifter: This bad boy is custom made by a fine Amish gentlemen who makes them specifically for our guy Rusty. They are made of stainless steel with reenforced joints that makes it nearly indestructible. This can be compared to the countless cheaper sifters on the market whose screen gets busted out after cramming dirt through it. You will not need another sifter.
  • Trowel: We custom cut these ourselves to fit beautifully in your trapper bag. When I say "we" I mean my Grandpa Claude (Allen's Father) cuts them. This saint of a human even round sands and stains the wood prior to reattaching the D-grip handle. This cut-down job keeps that pesky handle from getting caught, snagged, or bopped by the countless things that can have you cussing as you bend over to pick it up for the 5th time that morning.
  • Kneeling Pad: We don't do much to these besides but a gnarly brand on em. While it's a good marketing tool, our logo also helps you identify which side is up and which side is down MUCH easier. Did i mention how cool it looks?
  • Driver: We get these custom made by a local fabricator (shop local). They are heat treated and can take a freaking BEATING. They are also made at the optimal length, once again to keep this piece of metal from sticking out of your bag unnecessarily, but also to cut down on weight, and drive your earth anchor to the optimal depth.
  • Traps: Now, when you buy traps from a distributor, they will NOT come like what you see in our kit. Our traps are ready-to-go right out of the box. Our fine friends at Sterling Fur Co. help us out tremendously by rigging our traps up with cast iron super stakes and 12" of #3 chain. None of that weak cable crap. This rig is beefy. On top of that, once we get em in our shop, we give them a good double coating of Formula Once trap dip as a chefs kiss before we send 'em your way.
  • Bait & Lure: Let's not forget the bait & lure bag that comes packed with the best stuff money can buy from Rusty Johnson's Predator Lures

All of this gear is going to cost you about $400 retail plus shipping. And let's not forget, our kit comes with our step-by-step online course, The RPA Complete Academy, that's made up of over 115 video lessons.

So what do you need? Don't worry about it, because we've got you covered.
