The first day of deer season is practically a holiday where we come from - as it should be. There is nothing better than getting out there for your first hunt of the year. You’ve been preparing for months, if not the entire year, and this is what it all boils down to! Your bow is adjusted and sighted in, your food plots are lush, you’ve got your tags, and everything is ready to go.Â
Hunting on opening day of bow season isn’t even about harvesting a monster buck (although it’s important to remember that anything can happen). Opening day is about being out there and feeling the joys that only come from the outdoors - something very few people on earth get to experience. The first moment of peace you feel when you settle down in your stand for the first hunt of the year is a feeling you can’t replicate. After months of rushing around and getting everything in order to make this moment possible you get to relax. It’s a classic game of “hurry up and wait” and with deer hunting that’s about...
There is nothing more frustrating that searching high and low for the information you need. What makes matters worse is when you finally find something CLOSE to what you need and it's...terrible. Low quality footage, scratchy audio, bad angles, and long videos make understanding and retaining information a difficult task.Â
At RPA we understand the importance of quality information but we also value the quality of how we deliver our lessons. The Complete Rex Predator Academy is broken down into concise videos that clearly show and explain everything you need to know. These video lessons are easy to follow, see, and understand. All of our videos are available in 4K/High Definition which makes seeing what we're teaching you extremely clear. We also teach our "in the dirt" lessons as well as others with a camera view that is directly overhead which shows you the same view you will see while you are in the dirt yourself!Â
We pulled out all the stops and spared no expense to deliver a qua...
Rex Predator Academy is the next generation of trapping education.Â
Before Rex Predator Academy (RPA) there were limited options available to learn how to trap predators. You could search the internet, buy DVD's, or go to in-person training sessions - all of which have their limitations. When you search the internet for information you may find some sources but they are typically unorganized and seldom give you the precise information you need. DVDs are low quality, long, hard to follow, and take and experienced trapper to pull information from. Not to mention, they are limited to the DVD player in your living room. In person seminars are short and make it difficult to retain an overwhelming amount of information - on top of that, for later review, you are limited to the notes you were able to scribble down. These factors can make learning difficult.Â
On top of this you have to scour various sources to find exactly what gear you need to get started which adds yet another layer of lim...
We are not related...well, some of us. Allen is my dad and Rusty is just a stranger turned family with a very familiar name. What are the odds, right? I mean there aren't that many Johnson's in the world. Regardless of how it may slightly confuse folks, I'm glad this team has assembled.Â
My father, Allen (AJ), has always been an outdoorsman I've admired. Trapping is only one small piece of his outdoors passion. He can trap, fish, shoot, and hunt with the best of em - I'd never put money against him in a wingshoot... NEVER. Regardless of his ability to shoot birds this dude LOVES to deer hunt and trap coyotes. In all honesty it's hilarious to me how fired up he gets about deer hunting and trapping.
He's harvested some of the biggest whitetails I've ever seen and on a consistent basis. He still hunts more hours in a season than I care to imagine. The man is the definition of dedicated.Â
As a kid I remember him telling stories of trapping the area around our home. It seemed everywhere ...
